Jack Whitehall: Comedy Actor

A talented actor, Jack Whitehall received critical acclaim and a British Comedy Award nomination; for his portrayal of former public schoolboy JP in the hit C4 comedy drama ‘Fresh Meat’. Jack has received similar praise for his revival of JP in the second series of the show; which was broadcast in 2012, and a third series for 2013.

Comedy Writing

In August 2012, the first series of ‘Bad Education’, a sitcom written by Jack Whitehall; starring him as Alfie the worst teacher ever to grace the British education system, aired on BBC3. The first airing had an impressive audience of 3 million and a third series soon followed.

Jack’s comedy show ‘Hit the Road Jack’ was aired on Channel 4 in 2012. A six part series which saw him perform stand up, in cities across the UK; and featured celebrity guests and live music. In October 2012, Jack became a panellist for Sky’s ‘League of Their Own’.

Edinburgh Fringe

Jack Whitehall’s had many sell out solo stand up shows at the Edinburgh Fringe. With rave reviews from the public and critics alike. In August 2009, he was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards. For his debut solo Fringe show ‘Nearly Rebellious’.

2010 saw him return to Edinburgh, with a brand new stand up show entitled ‘Learning Difficulties’. In 2011 Jack brought two shows to the Fringe. Performing his solo stand up show ‘Let’s Not Speak Of This Again’ at the EICC; and with his father, the chat show ‘Back Chat’.

Jack Whitehall: Live Shows

Jack completed the tour of ‘Let’s Not Speak Of This Again’ in the winter of 2011. During which he filmed his first stand up DVD ‘Jack Whitehall Live’, at the Hammersmith Apollo. The DVD was released in 2012 and entered into the Top Ten Comedy DVD Charts, for Christmas 2012.

In 2014 Jack announced his biggest tour to date ‘Jack Whitehall Gets Around’. This show saw Jack perform in arenas “in the round”, a UK first for a solo stand up tour. Which ran over two weeks in 2014; taking in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cardiff and London.

In July 2010 Jack was at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival; as part of the prestigious New Faces line up. He was also picked out by Hollywood industry bible Variety, as one of their “10 Comics to Watch”.

A nomination for the 2010 British Comedy Awards, in the Best Male Comedy Breakthrough Artist category; capped an incredible year for Jack. Which also saw the honour of performing for the Prince of Wales, at the Royal Variety Performance; and jetting off to New York, to record a show for Comedy Central.

Jack In The USA

Jack Whitehall returned to the US in May 2011. As a guest on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and also in 2012; to perform at the first Secret Policeman’s Ball – at the Radio City Hall in New York.

Jack Whitehall: TV Shows

Jack has been in TV spots on: ‘Have I Got News For You’ on which he was a guest host; ‘QI’, ‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘The Graham Norton Show’, ‘Big Fat Quiz of the 90’s’ and ‘Big Fat Quiz of the Year’. 2013 also saw Jack as a co host for Comic Relief’s world renowned fundraising programme ‘Comic Relief: Red Nose Day’.
