Nicholas’s career started with a bang as he scored on his Celtic debut in a convincing 3-1 win against Queen’s Park in 1979. He soon earned his place as a regular in the first team and, in 1981, Nicholas was awarded the Scottish PFA Young Player of the Year. During his time at Celtic, Nicholas was part of a number of title-winning squads, including the Scottish Premier League. His last season at Celtic came to an end in 1983. His £750,000 move to Arsenal made Charlie Nicholas the second most expensive transfer from the Scottish League at the time.
