Rebecca Adlington became a household name after winning double gold at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 but made her senior British debut at the 2006 European Championships in Hungary, winning 800m freestyle silver. She qualified for the 400m and 800m freestyle events for London 2012, setting then world-leading times in both at the start of the trials at the Aquatics Centre in March and then took home bronze in both events at the Olympic Games.

Since retiring from swimming, Rebecca has enjoyed challenging herself further by exploring different avenues. She enjoyed taking part in a variety of TV shows – From I’m a Celeb in 2013, to The Jump in 2016 and Masterchef in 2017.
Rebecca Adlington: Sport Pundit
Rebecca was thrilled to become part of the BBC punditry team in 2013. It has been a fantastic journey so far covering The Olympics in Rio 2016, World Championships, Commonwealth Games, and European Games.
Some of her particular highlights over the years are being awarded an OBE from HRH, her Majesty the Queen, and having the local swimming pool, Sherwood Baths, renamed “Rebecca Adlington Swimming Centre” when it was refurbished in 2009.
Slazenger Swimwear
Rebecca has also created 2 Swimwear ranges with Slazenger and currently developing the third. She’s humbled to be an ambassador for Encephalitis Society and a Patron of Women in Sport charities.
Rebecca retired from all competitive swimming on 5 February 2013, having also won World, European, and Commonwealth titles.
