Ian Wright MBE is a former English professional footballer turned TV and radio personality. He had a successful football career at Crystal Palace, Arsenal, West Ham, Celtic and England. It is probably as a top striker at Arsenal he will be best remembered. During his time there, Wrighty smashed Cliff Bastin’s Arsenal scoring record of 178 goals, and won just about every domestic honour in the game.
Since Retirement
A popular character on and off the pitch, since retiring from football Ian has presented a variety of shows on ITV and the BBC where he is a regular pundit. He was a team captain on ‘They Think It’s All Over’ (2004), he presented ‘Gladiators’ (2008) , Channel 5’s ‘Live From Studio 5’ (2009/10); and his own chat show ‘Friday Night’s All Wright’ (1998 -2000) Top of the Pops.
Ian Wright: Sports Pundit
Ian appeared as a pundit on BBC Sport’s International Match of the Day; and has been a pundit for the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and Euro 2004. More recently he worked for ITV on various international matches including the 2014 World Cup.
