Graham Norton: Rise to Fame

His rise to fame began as one of the early successes of Channel 5 when he won an award for his performance as the stand-in host of the late-night talk show usually presented by Jack Docherty (1997). This was followed by the comic quiz show Bring Me the Head of Light Entertainment, which further enhanced his reputation.

TV Work

He also took part in the show Carnal Knowledge. He achieved fame as a broadcaster on Channel 4 and through his role as Father Noel Furlong in the critically acclaimed television series Father Ted. Though he only appeared in three episodes, his performance as Father Noel proved extremely popular with viewers.

So Graham Norton

His Channel 4 chat shows So Graham Norton and V Graham Norton (2002–2005) became some of the channel’s highest-rated shows and picked up nearly every award going, including four BAFTAs. Graham then moved to the BBC in 2005, where he has had a string of successful series, including Strictly Dance Fever, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? (BBC, 2006), Any Dream Will Do (BBC, 2007) and I’d Do Anything.

BBC Moves

The Graham Norton Show started on BBC Two in 2007 and moved quickly across to BBC One, and has been popular prime-time viewing ever since. He hosts his own Saturday morning show on Radio 2 and took over presenting the UK coverage for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. He had a four-month run in the West End production of La Cage aux Folles, playing the flamboyant Albin.

So Television

Graham is also the co-owner of So Television, which produces many of his television shows. When time allows, he hosts many corporate awards events.
