Brendan Dempsey is a talented stand up and actor who has worked all over the world in comedy clubs, theatres, resorts as well as TV & film.
Brendan Dempsey: International
Brendan Dempsey is one of a handful of acts invited to perform at the prestigious Just for Laughs festival in Montreal. His festival appearances include Edinburgh, Melbourne, Adelaide, Kansas, Finland and The Cat Laughs in Kilkenny. He has performed throughout Europe, across America, in Botswana and South Africa, and was the first comedian to perform in Qingdao, China.
He continues to perform all over the UK, in the Far and Middle East, in a variety of venues from the Comedy Store London to Llyss Meddyg in Pembrokeshire, entertaining as many as 2,500 people at the Lyceum Theatre for Bill Bailey’s SOS charity benefit.
His screen performances include the BAFTA award-winning* comedy-drama The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury, the cult hit comedy Waking Ned (Waking Ned Devine – US/AUS), and he is often recognised from About Adam and the film Gangs of New York. Brendan also appeared in the successful Father Ted Christmas special.
Television
His stand-up comedy has been seen on BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and RTÉ (Just for Laughs). He also featured in the last two series of The Comedy Store on Comedy Central (formerly Paramount). He appeared in Perrier’s Bounty and Round Ireland with a Fridge. More recently, he was working back in Ireland with Ardal O’Hanlon on his new sitcom Val Falvey TD. He is currently developing a comedy drama and a sitcom for television.
Awarded a REMI for his directorial debut Barking Mad at the Houston WorldFest, Brendan has also worked as a writer/performer on seven different radio series for RTÉ.
West End Theatre
Brendan Dempsey starred with Christian Slater in both record-breaking West End runs of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
