Kevin Keegan was a European Cup winner with Liverpool, European Player of the Year twice; and one of the few to have both captained and managed England.
He started as a teenager with Scunthorpe, but his talent as a creative midfielder led to a quick move into Bill Shankly’s Liverpool. Kevin quickly established his place, moving to striker and a fruitful partnership with John Toshack. He went on to win three First Division titles and numerous trophies.
Kevin Keegan Career Highlights
In an illustrious career Kevin made 321 appearances for Liverpool, and both captained and managed the national side. He also felt the lure of Hamburg and Newcastle (on more than one occasion), and gave a a generation of men their hairstyle. Kevin entertains and inspires any audience, not just football fans
After 323 appearances and 100 goals Kevin Keegan left Merseyside to become Germany’s highest paid player, winning the Bundesliga with Hamburg. At the same time he was appointed England captain, a role he held until after the team were ejected from the 1982 World Cup.
Back To Blighty
He returned to the UK to play for Southampton and Newcastle United. Helping the latter to promotion in his second season. After an eight year break, Kevin returned to Newcastle as manager. Once again steering the club into the top tier of the domestic game. Admired for his attacking tactics, he took them to second place in the Premier League.
Then, after a spell at Fulham, he took charge of the national side; a hugely popular choice with press and public. However, his time in charge ended harshly with a media backlash; after the team’s loss to Germany in a World Cup qualifier.
Kevin Keegan In Retirement
After a spell at Manchester City and a final return to Newcastle, Kevin retired from management – but continues to be involved in the game with academies, and as a pundit. He speaks about his eventful career and the lessons he has learned; and the value of looking forward instead of reflecting on past glories.

Some reviews ofKevin Keegan
Our audience absolutely loved him.
Our audience absolutely loved him. What we liked about him was his sense of humour – he was funny but at the same time not offensive to anyone because his jokes were related to football, so great in front of mixed audience. We also liked the fact that he was down to earth, talking to everyone, and totally not as you would imagine a celebrity of this calibre.
He exceeded expectations!
Kevin had everyone feeling relaxed and there were lots of laughs throughout his presentation. He exceeded expectations! He was so lovely to deal with in the run up to the event and we have had great feedback from attendees.
Kevin was just right for the event
Last night went very well and Kevin was just right for the event. Please can you thank him very much for an excellent presentation and being kind enough to pose for photos and give autographs. The problem now is who will be as good next year as I am hopeful we will be making this an annual fixture.
