With his northern charm and cheekiness he quickly grabbed the attention of the Manchester comedy scene. Going on to appear regularly on TV & radio.
Justin Moorhouse: Comedian
After supporting the city’s best known comedians, including Johnny Vegas and Peter Kay; Justin Moorhouse became a headline act in his own right.
Popular throughout the entertainment industry, Justin began his professional comedic career at age 29 by contacting a comedy club, the Frog and Bucket, and performing a stand-up show. In 2002, he competed in a local comedy competition and won the final held at the Comedy Store Manchester. Gaining a respected reputation throughout the industry, Justin secured the role of Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights, alongside comedic legend Peter Kay and has since soared to success. Keen to perform his shows live on stage, Justin has become a regular at Edinburgh Fringe and has completed numerous theatre tours across the UK. Alongside this, he also gained the remarkable opportunity to present live from the Olympics in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 for Team GB and DFS. Justin also makes weekly contributions to the Warm Up on Talk Sport alongside Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning, guessing attendance every Sunday morning.
Phoenix Nights
He is perhaps most recognisable as the hapless Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights; who spent the whole of the second series with his face painted as a tiger. But he has also appeared in Coronation Street, as rival pub landlord Dean Upton, and was a winner of Celebrity Mastermind.
TV & Radio Comedy
Justin presented a Sony nominated radio show on Key 103 for more than a decade; and has performed two series of his own sitcom, Everyone Quite Likes Justin, on Radio 4. He has also appeared in Shameless and 8 Out Of 10 Cats; and the much-lauded Ken Loach film Looking For Eric. He wrote the acclaimed Radio 4 comedy drama, An Insurance Inspector Calls, and is a regular guest on The News Quiz.
An experienced professional, Justin has also developed an admirable career on television. Since his iconic role in Phoenix Nights, he has been selected to appear on a wide range of shows over recent years, including Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, Ken Loach’s Looking for Eric, Max and Paddy’s Road to No-Where, Shameless, and Celebrity Mastermind. With his shows being a hit with fans globally, his live performances have also been televised on The Comedy Store, One Night Stand, and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow. Treasured for his natural humour and positive personality, Justin has become the proud host of the popular ‘About 30 Minutes No More than 45’ podcast, where he has created over 200 episodes to date. Recently, Justin made notable appearances on shows including Richard Osman’s House of Games, QI, and Live At The Apollo and has become a fan favourite and regular on Channel 4’s Countdown. Additionally, he is frequently featured as Champion of Champions on BBC5 Live’s Fighting Talk and Radio 4’s The New Quiz.
