Lee Byrne is one of the most popular Welsh rugby players of recent years, best known as one of the “Fab Four” of exciting young Welsh talents for Ospreys and Wales alongside Shane Williams, Mike Phillips and James Hook.
Lee Byrne made his Wales debut in November 2006, his superb performances helping his nation to the 2008 Grand Slam. His form continued through the autumn internationals and he was rewarded with a call up to the British & Irish Lions squad in 2009. In total, Lee played 46 times for his country.
Bridgend Born
Born in Bridgend, Lee played for Scarlets, Ospreys, Clermont and Dragons; before being forced to retire from the sport with a shoulder injury in 2015.
Lee Byrne Rugby Pundit
A popular figure, Lee is now making a name for himself as a pundit and motivational speaker. He worked at the 2015 Rugby World Cup and toured New Zealand as a co-commentator for talkSPORT during the British Lions tour in 2017. He is also one half of a celebrity couple, his wife Andrea is an experienced newsreader for ITN.
Dyslexic Children
Lee is dyslexic and a board trustee of Tomorrow’s Generation, a Learning Centre for dyslexic children in Cardiff. He is also an ambassador for State of Mind, a charity that aims to improve mental health amongst rugby league players and communities.
