Eric Cantona is a legend for his work on the pitch with Manchester United in the 1990s. Cantona played for several clubs in his home country, France. Before arriving in the UK where he helped Leeds United win the first division title in 1992.  He moved to Manchester United in Autumn 1992. Over five seasons, he scored 64 goals in 143 appearances. Cantona led the club to four Premier League championships. At the conclusion of his first season, he finished third for the prestigious Ballon d’Or. Cantona was also named the Premier League Overseas Player of the Decade.

On the international stage, he is a former captain for the French national team. Having scored 20 goals in 45 appearances. Eric is a member of the Premier League Hall of Fame and the English Football Hall of Fame. In 2004, Pele named him on the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players. Since retiring from the sport at the relatively young age of 30, he pursued a career as an actor.

Beach Soccer

Readjusting his football talent, Eric Cantona later transitioned to beach soccer – a different format of the game that also allowed him to explore the role of player-manager. Cantona won the Euro Beach Soccer League in 2004, and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2005. For his extensive career and commitment to football, Eric received the Golden Foot Legends Award in 2012.
