Charles Nove

Charles Nove

The voice of Charles Nove is familiar throughout the UK, thanks to decades of being on Radio and Television programmes and commercials. He is a well known live presenter & host at corporate events up and down the country.

Beginnings

Charles Nove began his broadcasting life as a Hospital Radio volunteer in Glasgow, before he was signed-up as the BBC’s youngest Presenter, back in 1978, for the launch of their new station Radio Scotland. In 1981, he was invited to move to London to join BBC Radio 2 as a Newsreader & Presenter. His programming engagements there included Nightride & the weekly film magazine Cinema 2.

Radio

From 1989 onwards, Charles pursued a varied freelance career. His Commercial Radio work has included presentation for London’s Magic 105.4, Jazz FM, Oneword Digital, and Saga Radio in Glasgow.

Television

On Television, Charles Nove has worked on a wide variety of programmes, including Variety Club Awards, UK Dance Championships, World Circus Championships, The Lord Mayor’s Show, Big Break, The National Lottery and the now legendary Bruce Forsyth edition of Have I Got News For You. He’s proud to have been associated with the world’s longest-running musical television series, Come Dancing, clocking up 12 years as the show’s Commentator/Co-Presenter.

Don’t Panic!

Known as a useful man to have around in a crisis, Charles was an obvious choice for the BBC’s crack “Y2K” team of Millennium Bug busters, who were on duty in a bunker as the year 2000 arrived, poised for action if the dreaded bug bit. It didn’t. So they opened the Champagne like everyone else!

Voice-over

During the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Charles was part of the team providing commentary for the international feeds of the Shooting events. You may also have heard those familiar tones voicing programme trailers and promotions on a range of channels, or perhaps during spells as a Continuity Announcer on BBC 1, BBC 2 and The History Channel, hosting in-flight audio entertainment shows for leading airlines, or being your amiable audio tour guide around some of the world’s finest Museums and Art Galleries, including collections at Buckingham Palace, the Tate Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, the Louvre and the Pompidou Centre. He has also presented shows for BBC Radio Oxford.

Charles Nove Radio

Charles returned to BBC Radio 2 to become one of the team on regular morning News duties, gamely dodging the flying sausages and airy banter of the UK’s favourite breakfast show, Wake Up to Wogan. He is also a narrator for the Youtuber Toby Groom’s channel Epic History TV. In 2019 Charles became the weekday host of the Scala Radio Breakfast Show from Bauer Media, playing classical music across the UK.

Charles is a very popular corporate event host and feedback includes:

“Charles is a true professional and was used as a “Voice of God” at our awards. He was prompt in arrival, gave us loads of time to rehearse with him and took the time to go over tricky name pronunciation. He was extremely personable and very calming to a nervous event manager! Would certainly use him again and would recommend him to anyone.” Jill Payne, Director PT Business Group

“What an outstanding job he did and how easy to work with consummate professionalism and great talent. Use him, you’ll be happy you did.” Walter Hammock, GSM Showcase Media LLC
