Former professional footballer, Micky Quinn was notorious during his career, involved with no less than nine teams during his seventeen year long career. Now Micky is a sports speaker who covers both football and horse racing and is a recognised voice on UK radio station talkSPORT. Starting his career in football in 1979 for Wigan Athletic, Micky went on to score nineteen goals in sixty nine Fourth Division games. Micky guided Wigan into the third division but unfortunately was transferred to Stockport County due to manager Larry Lloyd believing Micky was too inexperienced for Third Division football. Making a name for himself as a regular goal scorer Micky was brought by Joe Royle to join the Second Division team Oldham Athletic.
Football career
Spending the majority of his top level career at Portsmouth and Newcastle United, between 1985 and 1992, it was at these two clubs that Micky Quinn made the most appearances and scored the most goals. Regularly named as the top goal scorer for the season, he repeatedly impressed with his ability to strike accurately and often. Once the most expensive player to be signed by the Magpies, Micky knew what is meant to work hard and preserve to surpass goals.
