Matt Prior, as vice captain and wicket keeper / batsman, won three Ashes series and hit 7 Test centuries in an England cricket team that rose to number one in the International Cricket Council rankings. South African Start
Matt Prior was born on 26 January 1982. He was born in Johannesburg in South Africa. When he was 11 year old, he along with his family migrated to the UK. It is known that Matt’s father had his roots in England whereas Matt’s mother had her roots in South Africa. Matt completed his education by graduating from Brighton College and it is known that he started playing cricket at a very early age. Rough Career Start
Matt started his career at a very early age and he started by playing for domestic clubs and teams. During that time, he led his team to victory for three times in County Championship. The first international match that Matt played was against Zimbabwe. The match was played in 2004 but at that time he was not a permanent player in the English Team. In the next series, he was selected for a series against Pakistan and he didn’t really perform well which costed the series to England.
Matt Prior Wicket Keeper
In 2006, he again played against India and the team again lost the series. The next year he played against West Indies, India as well as Sri Lanka and his performance was not great at all. His fans were really disappointed. Matt Prior played as a wicket keeper but owing to the poor performance he was dropped out of the team. Matt never gave up and practised more and more to master the skills behind the wicket.
Second Chance
In 2008 Matt Prior got another chance to prove himself and he was selected in the team to play against South Africa as well as India. The series wasn’t that great again but he did perform amazingly well in 2009 while playing against West India. He was also awarded with the Man of the Match in the game. His game got better after the same and he played several matches in the coming years. In 2015, he broke the news of his retirement and his fans were left heart broken. The last match that Matt played was in 2014.

Talking about the statistics, he scored 7 centuries in his test career and his highest had been 131 against Pakistan. He had a batting average of 40 in his test career. Matt was also honoured with the NBC Denis Compton Award. Later in his life, Matt decided to get married to Emily Prior.
Football Connection
Emily’s father was in Arsenal FC and played for them for almost the whole of his life. Matt’s wife gave birth to two children after their marriage. One of them is a boy and the other one is a girl. It is estimated that the former cricketer earned 700 thousand GBP a year but his net worth is not known. It is assumed that he is an ultra high net worth individual.
