Jim Rosenthal is one of the most familiar faces in television sport in Britain. He presents ITV4’s new Champions League Tuesday show and the channel’s live match coverage. 2008 saw Jim covering Euro 2008 while 2006 saw Jim work on his seventh World Cup; and he continues to front ITV’s acclaimed Big Fight Live boxing coverage throughout the year.
Award Winning
He has twice been named as the Royal Television Society’s Sports Presenter of the Year; and has won other awards at home and abroad. In his television career he has presented football, boxing and athletics, plus other minor sports.
Jim Rosenthal was the main anchor of ITV’s BAFTA winning coverage of the Rugby World Cup; which took him to Australia for the sensational final. He has also been part of the teams covering World Cup Football and summer Olympics.
Jim Rosenthal: Radio Career
In his previous radio career he spent time as a cricket commentator; and has even tried his hand at acting in ‘Renford Rejects’ and ‘Footballers Wives’. Last year saw him return to boxing as ITV got back in the ring on Saturday nights. Jim has always been a football fanatic; his childhood home team of Oxford United have been through troubled times but he has remained a loyal supporter.
Face of Formula One
Jim Rosenthal was the face of Formula 1 on ITV for eight years; and has presented over 150 Grand Prix since 1997. “Covering Formula One has been an amazing time for me and I’ve really enjoyed the sport; but I don’t think I ever made a secret of the fact that football is my first love”. On the international stage he regularly hosts the prestigious UEFA Gala Dinner in Monaco; a football spectacular which is broadcast across the world. His apprenticeship was served on newspapers and BBC local and national radio.
