Debra Searle MVO, MBE is a truly inspirational woman. A pro adventurer, author, BBC presenter and gender equality advocate. Debra first hit the headlines when she set out to row across the Atlantic with her husband. Although he had to be rescued; so Debra, a novice rower, continued alone and rowed 3000 miles from Tenerife to Barbados. It should have taken them six weeks; but to achieve her goal, Debra ended up spending 3½ months at sea, alone. Encountering 30 foot waves, sharks and force 8 squalls; in her 23 foot ply wood boat.
Debra Searle Early Starter
Yet Debra Searle is more than your usual sports speaker. Despite poor grades at school, Debra found a way to tap into her potential; founding her first company a ‘dot com’, at the age of 23 and second at 27. More recently Debra founded a diversity consultancy and training company, which specialise in innovative corporate programmes. In 2015, Debra combined her two passions for adventure and gender balance; by leading a team of 12 ordinary business women, on an expedition in the Arctic Circle. As part of a wider corporate diversity programme.
Royal Men & Women
Debra Searle is a regular presenter for the BBC, with credits including: ‘Grandstand’, ‘Extreme Lives’, and ‘Builders, Sweat and Tears’. Her spirit for adventure, gained Debra an MBE from Her Majesty the Queen and she was delighted to be made a trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme in 2003; the youngest and only female trustee at the time, besides HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and The Earl of Wessex. She was heavily involved in the form of the Women’s Business Network Forum; based out of Buckingham Palace and chaired by HRH The Countess of Wessex.
Go For It With Debra Searle
Debra’s over whelming positivity and ‘go for it’ attitude is contagious; whilst her modesty is endearing. Debra Searle uses her story and experience as an entrepreneur, to powerfully but subtly draw out key business and personal lessons. She illustrates with slides and stunning video footage; leaving her audience in no doubt of their own ability to achieve the extraordinary.

You’ve clearly had a massive impact on our Division as nearly a week later and people are still talking about it! ‘One of the best speakers we’ve ever had’, ‘I can’t stop telling people about Debra Searle and how inspirational she is’, ‘The best thing about the event? Two words: Debra Searle’. We’ve never had feedback like it for a guest speaker!
Client Director, IBM (IBM have booked Debra a further 8 times) –
Debra’s presentation was perfectly aligned to our event objectives. Clearly Debra’s achievements are amazing and interesting in themselves. More importantly, Debra has the ‘human touch’ and connected well with everyone in the audience. She held the audience from start to finish and balanced humour with more serious messages. She scored 5 out of 5 from every one of the 170 delegates. This is unheard of!
Mike Firth, CEO International Business Convention –
We held a conference for 1400 business people with Mikhael Gorbachev, Rory Bremner, Nick Leeson, Murray Walker, John Simpson and Debra Searle as the speakers, and the delegates voted Debra Searle the best.
