Paul and Debbie performed together on his BBC series The Paul Daniels Magic Show where she became affectionately known to the nation as ‘the lovely Debbie McGee’ as Paul referred to her. The couple married in 1988 and in 1991 Debbie became the first female member of The Magic Circle.

From Dance to Magic

Debbie originally trained at the Royal Ballet and spent time with the Iranian National Ballet, which was cut short by the 1979 Islamic Revolution. She became a dancer as part of Paul Daniels’s magic show and then became his assistant. They married in April 1988, becoming darlings of the media as well as Saturday night TV. They made a number of appearances on reality TV including a Louis Theroux documentary, which, in part, detailed her setting up a ballet company, Ballet Imaginaire. Another TV appearance was on Celebrity Wife Swap where Paul and Debbie swapped partners with Vanessa Feltz and Ben Ofoedu.

Debbie McGee Solo Career

In March 2016, Paul Daniels sadly died, leaving a heart broken Debbie, who fought on creating her own very successful career with a taste of presenting radio going on to host BBC Radio Berkshire’s Sunday morning slot 9am -11am. She also appeared on Celebrity Masterchef.

Strictly Come Dancing

In 2017, Debbie McGee became one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing. She was paired with dancer Giovanni Pernice. They reached the final four and subsequently runners-up. Debbie had really made her mark with the British public, undoubtedly the star of Strictly Come Dancing 2017 with several other other TV programmes following

In recent years Debbie has appeared on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Would I lie to you, MasterChef, The Chase, Antiques Road Trip, The Pilgrimage and Celebrity Canals.  Debbie joined the panel of Loose Women in January 2018
