Alison Steed is the co-founder and Editor of MyMoneyDiva. Alison is a regular commentator on Sky News and is the journalist behind the first five series of the Channel 4 prime time money saving show Superscrimpers – Waste Not Want Not. She is a well respected commentator on personal finance issues, and has won eight awards for her writing; including Personal Finance Journalist of the Year from the Association of British Insurers four times in a row.

Alison started her career in 1997 at Professional Pensions, the leading weekly newspaper for the UK occupational pensions industry. She then went to Financial Adviser magazine for two years; first as features writer, later as features editor. From 2000-06 she wrote about personal finance for the Daily Telegraph, becoming Deputy Personal Finance Editor in 2004. After going freelance in 2006, she has continued to maintain a notable presence in the national press, writing for The Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, the Daily and Sunday Express and The Sun.

She has also made a number of appearances on TV and radio, including many on Sky News, the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2, and was the financial journalist behind the hit Channel 4 personal finance show Superscrimpers for the first five series.

Alison Steed has a degree in journalism from the London College of Printing and Distributive Trades. She has advised some of the world’s biggest corporations on communications and was responsible for writing a significant part of the FSA’s consumer facing website, for its first incarnation.
Alison Steed Triathlete
Outside of work, Alison Steed is an accomplished triathlete, having taken part in 10 Ironman triathlons to date. She is also a keen cyclist and was one of three ladies in the team that won the National Ladies Team British Best All Round Championship; in 2009. She has also received the Living Legend award from Age UK. In recognition of the campaigning work she has done; on the issue of the mistreatment of older people who need long term care.
