Ainsley Harriott: TV Chef

Ainsley was a very gentle boy in his childhood and his father was running a bakery shop. Additionally his mother was also a helping hand within the bakery. Where, in his school days Ainsley used to learn making cakes, by watching his father.

Starting Ainsley

Ainsley trained as a chef at Varrey’s Restaurant. But he spent some time in the entertainment world, as part of a musical duo called ‘The Calypso Twins’, working the London comedy club scene.

Ainsley Harriott Head Chef

In the cooking world he progressed to be Head Chef, of the ‘Long Room’ at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Before gaining exposure in the media, becoming resident chef on BBC TV’s ‘Good Morning with Anne & Nick’. Ainsley came to the mainstream as the presenter of BBC 2’s ‘Ready Steady Cook’. Which had started in 1994, with Fern Britton hosting – he took over in 2000.

Ainsley continued to make numerous TV appearances including ‘Ainsley Harriott’s Street Food’. In 2015, Ainsley became one of the celebrities on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. He was partnered with Natalie Lowe, and they were the fourth couple to be voted off.
