Bob has appeared all over the world, including several tours of Australia; including one from which he has just returned with rave reviews: “Mate, your 40 minutes was the hit of the day. So many people came up to me afterwards to say how funny and engaging you were” David Shields, President Northcliffe Surf Club at Surfers Paradise; after a lunch for 400 in January, 2018. For the second time he may be flown out for the Australian Rules Football Final in 2018.

Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan became only the second entertainer, to be elected as President of a County Cricket Club at KENT CCC in 2013. Sir Richard Stilgoe at Surrey is the only other show business President. He was also PRESIDENT of the NATIONAL SPORTING CLUB in 2014, is a CELEBRITY AMBASSADOR for VARIETY, the global children’s charity and a TRUSTEE of the LORD’S TAVERNERS,

He has appeared at 77 of the 92 Premier and Football League Clubs, every County Cricket Club and over 100 Golf and Rugby Clubs. Bob has become a popular and entertaining interviewer and recently worked with Jimmy Tarbuck, Sir Ian Botham, Sir John Major, Sir Alex Ferguson; and raised £58,000 for the Sir Bobby Robson Memorial Golf Day in Portugal in June, 2017

Writing Talent

His COMEDY POEMS and SPEECHWRITING are also now in great demand. He wrote a poem for the retiring CEO of Rolls Royce and in August for Lord Seb Coe. Other subjects of his poems have included; former British Airways CEO Sir Rod Eddington, the late Ronnie Corbett, David Gower, Gary Lineker, Roy Hudd and most notably HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

He wrote two comedy poems for dinners with the Duke, who wrote one verse about the Cat! He was one of the comics booked to celebrate his 90th birthday; at the Variety Club tribute, besides the late Frank Carson, Barry Humphries and Al Murray. Previously he has worked on scripts and speeches for: the Rugby Football Union, British Airways, William Hague, the late Sir David Frost; and many other industrialists and politicians.

In broadcasting he is a frequent guest on Sky Sports and Talksport, and appeared regularly on BBC’s ‘Aunties Bloomers’ hosted by Sir Terry Wogan; as well as C4’s Countdown and presented Six O Six on BBC Radio 5, following Danny Baker’s exit. Bob was a featured act on the BBC1 variety show Jim Davidson Presents; and was the subject of a documentary for Meridian TV, on which channel he has also had his own show.

Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan has appeared frequently on Sky TV, including as a spoof cricket reporter. There aren’t many people in the business he hasn’t worked with. He was asked to appear in “Ronnie and Friends” at the Fairfield Halls with: Ronnie Corbett, Jasper Carrott, Jimmy Tarbuck and Bruce Forsyth. The list also includes: The Bee Gees, Phil Collins, Billy Connolly, David Essex, George Harrison, Barry Humphries, Elton John and Rod Stewart.

In April 2001 Bob appeared in front of 5,000 people at The Royal Albert Hall at a Tribute Bands Concert. He has also appeared with several members of the Royal Family and besides the late Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Runcie; one of the many public figures he has written for.

He was the BENEDICTINE AFTER DINNER SPEAKER OF THE YEAR and won the REUTERS JACKIE BLANCHFLOWER SPEAKERS TROPHY. His best selling book on his adventures as an after dinner speaker “Nearly Famous”, went into two reprints in hardback; and was subsequently published in paperback and Kindle.

Bob ‘The Cat’ Bevan had a highly successful business career in Journalism and Public Relations. He was a reporter on Lloyd’s List, the daily shipping newspaper and deputy editor of a travel trade magazine. He was Group Director of Public Relations for European Ferries for 14 years and has twice run his own PR consultancy; with some success. He made his first speech at his old boys dinner, in 1967 and turned professional in 1980.

Sport is the Goal

Sport is his great love. He played football for West Wickham in the Southern Amateur League and Old Wilsonians in the Southern Olympian League; for 25 years and still plays in veteran games.

Before going in goal he was an inside forward. He played cricket for the Lord’s Taverners and his village side. He is a Trustee of the major cricket based charity The Lord’s Taverners; Honorary Barker in the Variety Club and a Member of the Grand Order of Water Rats. He is President of Bells Yew Green CC, a Vice President of: Crystal Palace FC, Middlesex Wanderers FC, Frant CC, Old Wilsonians FC and a Past President of the Old Wilsonians Association.

I have a golf handicap of 27 but have often been mistaken for a 28 – Bob Bevan
