Bill was listed by the Observer as one of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy in 2003. In 2007 and again in 2010, he was voted the 7th greatest stand up comic, on Channel 4’s 100 Greatest Stand Ups.

Acting & TV Credits

Besides his talent as an entertainer, for which he received a British Comedy Award as Best Live Stand Up; Bill Bailey has also made his mark as an actor. He starred in the Channel 4 sitcoms Black Books and Spaced, and in the feature films Nanny McPhee, Big Bang, Burke & Hare and Hot Fuzz.

Bill Bailey Buzzcocks

Bill is best known as a former team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Other TV credits include Monster Night, Is It Bill Bailey?, The Stand Up Show and Space Cadets; as well as many spots on Have I Got News For You. He regularly pops up on QI and radio panel shows, and presented the nature programme Wild Thing I Love You.

Live Shows

However, nowhere is his virtuosity so apparent as live on stage, surrounded by an array of musical instruments; peddling his slightly shambolic, fiercely intelligent and often bizarre blend of musical messing and general silliness. Bill has performed sell out shows in the West End and New York, and has toured his stand up shows around the world.

As if writing and performing were not enough, Bill has also organised, produced, and starred in the West End production Pinter’s People; a collection of sketches and scenes written by Harold Pinter.

Where It Started

Bill Bailey was raised in Keynsham, Bristol. Whilst still at school, he became an Associate of the London College of Music and managed to complete one year of an English & Drama degree in London. Bill got his first taste of Edinburgh in a college production of Under Milk Wood; and after dropping out, played the piano in a wine bar.

He was the founder member of The Rubber Bishops in 1989, going on to a highly successful solo career; performing nationally in concert halls, with his own one man tour. Bill now tours extensively around the world including: Melbourne and New Zealand Comedy Festivals, as well as Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

Bill has performed at the Royal Variety show, as well as receiving much acclaim and awards for his work.

Bill had clearly reviewed and understood the brief and objectives and worked on being relevant to this audience.

  2. BVRLA

Fantastic! A totally over the top experience and one not be missed – ever. A superb stand-up allied with a musician of prodigious talent with some highly unusual instruments – simply a tour de force.
