Donna-Marie Hughes (married name Donna-Marie Broomfield) is a classically trained Soprano; who can perform a huge assortment of arias and songs to suit your event or occasion. With an enormous repertoire, she can take you and your audience on a thrilling and amusing musical journey. Through the world of; grand opera, opera, operetta (with light hearted explanations if required), crossover, sacred, classical, musical theatre and some swing.
Your programme of music will be specifically tailored to suit the needs of you and your event; including provision of accompanist and / or PA System with tracks. Donna-Marie Hughes is also pleased to announce a new singing partnership with Tenor Matthew Wilding. Together they have formed “Belle Voci” a classical singing duo; who can perform all your favourite opera, musical theatre and crossover duets for any event or occasion.
Donna-Marie Hughes Opera
At the tender age of 25 Donna-Marie Hughes decided on a whim to have singing lessons; and within 6 months she landed her first principal role in an opera. She didn’t even know she could sing let alone sing opera! Since then, she has performed in operas and opera galas as a solo artist; with various companies and societies throughout England and Europe.
Roles performed include Susannah (The Marriage Of Figaro), Witch/Lady In Waiting (Macbeth), Casilda (The Gondoliers), Melissa (Princess Ida) , Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), Gianetta (The Elixir Of Love), Mabel (Pirates Of Penzance), Aline & Costance (The Sorcerer) and Belinda (Dido & Aeneas).
Singing Career
Over the last few years Donna-Marie Hughes has performed at many exciting venues and events including: The Bahrain Grand Prix, The American Express Community Stadium Brighton, International Marbella Film Festival, Le Manoir Aux Qautre Saisons-Oxford, Marriott Hotel Group, The Goring Hotel-London, Ocean Village Festival Gibraltar, International Gibraltar Boat Show, Duquesa Castle Spain, El Monasterio De San Martin Spain, West Ham FC, Brighton & Hove Albion FC, the RNLI Proms, Torquay United FC, Exeter Chiefs RC and In 2010 Donna-Marie was shortlisted for the “BBC Radio 2 Dame Kiri Opera Prize”.
In April and May 2013 and August 2015 Donna-Marie Hughes performed to over 30,000 football fans at the Amex Stadium, Brighton for Brighton & Hove Albion. Throughout 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014; she performed as a solo classical artist, for Thomson Holidays 5* Sensatori Resorts in Tenerife, Crete and Egypt.
Donna-Marie Hughes Pianist
Donna-Marie Hughes is also an accomplished Pianist; studying for a DipABRSM Diploma in Piano Teaching and a DipABRSM Diploma in Piano Performing. A Vocal Coach, Founder of West Country Opera Society and Choir Director for The Maynard Independent Girls School in Exeter, Devon.
