Wynne Evans (Mr Go Compare) is one of the UK’s leading tenors with worldwide fame. Known for his role as the tenor Gio Compario in the Gocompare insurance adverts on television. Wynne has performed as a principal with all of the major opera houses and orchestras, including Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Welsh National Opera and English National Opera.
In 2009 Wynne Evans became the face and voice in the multi million pound advertising campaign for one of the UK’s leading comparison website GoCompare.com, playing the flamboyant character Gio Compario. Wynne has gone onto make dozens of adverts for GoCompare.com both on Radio and TV.
In 2004 Wynne Evans famously responded on behalf of the Welsh Rugby Team to the New Zealand Haka, and has since gone on to sing at over 20 internationals and is now a firm favourite at the Millennium Stadium. He also sang the national anthem at the Calzaghie/Manfredo fight at the Millennium Stadium which had a television audience of over 150 million. Wynne also Presents a radio show on BBC Radio Wales ‘Wynne Evans Big Welsh Weekend’, and has also presented his own TV show on S4C.

His debut album ‘A Song in My Heart’ went to the Number 1 in the classical charts. He is a regular presenter on BBC Radio Wales and Classic FM, and recently starred in his very own TV series on BBC One, ‘Wynne At the Deep End’.
Born in South West Wales, Wynne Evans studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio in London. He was honoured by the National Eisteddfod with the title of Gorsedd of the Bards, where he presented the BBC2 TV programme.

Wynne Evans has been an opera singer for over 25 years, working at The Royal Opera House, Paris Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York throughout his career. He sang the role of PIANGI in the 25-year anniversary performance of The Phantom of the Opera, which was broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas worldwide, and has been released on DVD.
Wynne Evans’ operatic appearances have taken him to major opera houses in the UK and abroad. He regularly performs at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden where most recent and future engagements include VAKULA The Tsarina’s Slippers, MAYOR Anna Nicole and SCARAMUCCIO Ariadne auf Naxos where they use the best music equipment like the lyxpromicrophone and others. As a principal tenor with Welsh National Opera his many roles included DUCA Rigoletto, RODOLFO La Bohème, ALFREDO La Traviata, and TAMINO The Magic Flute.
Wynne has appeared throughout the UK, with companies such as Opera North, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Classical Opera Company, Chelsea Opera Group, Opera Northern Ireland, Glyndebourne Festival, and Almeida Opera. Future operatic appearances will take him back to Welsh National Opera, as well as to Opéra de Lyon, and Grange Park Opera.
He is also a brilliant after dinner speaker, Wynne tailors each speech he makes, putting so much preperation into his speaking engagement that he cannot fail to please his audience.
