Larry Dean is one of the most exciting, award winning comedy acts on the circuit today. Since taking the Comedy degree course at Southampton Solent University (2009 – 2011), where he was taught comedy by Comicus director Matthew Willetts. From there his career has gone from strength to strength.
Larry was crowned as ‘Scottish Comedian Of The Year’ at just 23. His comedy star has continued to rise and rise, nominated for the top comedy award at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival. He was also nominated in 2015 at the Fosters Comedy Awards, for Best Newcomer. Following his success in Edinburgh, Larry brought his show to London, for a series of packed out gigs at The Soho Theatre.
2016 saw Larry Dean star on ’Live From The BBC’ on BBC2, having already been on ‘BBC Presents: Best Of The Edinburgh Festival’. Larry has also performed along side some of the biggest names in UK comedy; supporting the likes of Eddie Izzard on tour and shows at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, in 2014 and 2015.
Larry returned to Edinburgh Festival with his eagerly awaited show ‘Farcissist’, for which he won the ‘Amused Moose Comedy Award’ for Best Show in the Edinburgh comedy awards. He then took the show on a UK wide tour and a run at the 2017 Melbourne Comedy Festival.
Fresh from a sell out international tour and smash hit ‘Live at the Apollo’ debut, Larry Dean was on the Comedy Central UK show ‘Roast Battle’ in 2017. Larry previously appeared twice on ‘BBC Presents: Best of the Edinburgh Festival’ and ‘Live From the Comedy Store’ for Comedy Central UK. He has also performed on ITV2’s ‘Elevenish’, BBC Radio 4’s ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh’ and as a guest on ‘Mock The Week’ in 2018.
‘Fandan’ – Larry’s most recent show, had a sold out run at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show was also one of the British Comedy Guide’s ‘Top 10 Best Reviewed Shows’. Larry has performed the show at Christchurch Busker’s Festival and Perth Fringe World in 2018, ahead of his UK tour and there after at Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Glaswegian comedian Larry Dean started his stand up comedy career, south of the border in 2008. Since then he has built a strong name on the comedy club circuit. So quickly turning full time in the business, as the offers of work piled in. This all resulted in a number of high profile comedy shows, around the UK and abroad.
As well as his experience as a stand up comedian, Larry hosted Southampton’s biggest student comedy night, between 2008 and 2010. He has performed in 5 star holiday resort shows in Crete and Egypt. Also headlining the Blissfields Festival, he performed at Preston’s Fringe Festival (5 star review), Manchester Comedy Festival and has been a regular at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2011.

Matthew Willetts MA is the Director of Comicus who has over 35 years experience in television, film, theatre, and comedy club/cabaret entertainment, working as a performer, screenwriter, producer and agent. He lectured at Southampton Solent University in Comedy, Screenwriting, Television, Theatre & Radio. Matthew can sometimes be seen and heard on TV & Radio and often quoted in the national press and media publications. As well as speaking regularly at festivals and industry conferences, he has been a judge at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Montreux Television Festival.
