Frankie leapt onto the circuit in style; when he won the Daily Telegraph’s Open Mic competition in 1996. Before becoming a regular and popular compere at high profile clubs across the UK.
Frankie Boyle: On Stage
His first performances at the Ed Fringe included a starring role in 2003 besides The Reverend Obadiah Steppenwolfe III; in a show that won praise from both audiences and critics alike.
Ed Festival Regular
In 2007 Frankie returned to the Edinburgh Festival for the ninth time; with his brand new show, The Voice of Black America. While Frankie’s stand up career reached new heights, his TV work took off.

After regular appearances on BBC Scotland’s Live Floor Show; Frankie has appeared as a guest on 8 out of 10 Cats, They Think It’s All Over, and Mock The Week, for which he is best known. Besides his work in front of the camera, Frankie is also a highly regarded writer. He has written for several series including 8 out of 10 Cats, 2DTV and 29 Minutes of Fame.
An established act, Frankie is often invited to perform at corporate events. Previous clients have included: HSBC, Hammerson and Next.

He lectured at Southampton Solent University in Comedy, Screenwriting, Television, Theatre & Radio. Matthew can sometimes be seen and heard on TV & Radio and often quoted in the national press and media publications. As well as speaking regularly at festivals and industry conferences, he has been a judge at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Montreux Television Festival.
