With his absurdist observations and unique delivery; Andy Parsons has firmly established himself as one of the most distinctive and funniest voices on the circuit. The strong Estuary accent and the stilted, stylised rhythm with its unnatural pauses and weird inflections ensure every gag gets a great reception. Andy’s material is sharp, funny and unexpected.
Andy has been a regular at the Edinburgh Festival, taking a show there almost every year since debuting in 1998. He is a familiar face on our TV screens, seen as a regular panellist on ‘They Think It’s All Over’ and ‘QI’. Andy started his career writing for ‘Weekending’, ‘The Lenny Henry Show’ and ‘Smith & Jones’; he then went on to be one of the main writers, for the groundbreaking ‘Spitting Image’.
He has performed on numerous radio and TV shows including: Live at the Apollo, QI, Saturday Live, The Stand Up Show, The Comedy Store, They Think It’s All Over, The PMQ Show, Scrooby Trevithick and Parsons & Naylor’s Pull Out Sections. For Radio he has written and performed on ‘The Stand Up Show’ (Radio 4), and ‘Parsons & Naylor’s Pull Out Sections’ (Radio 2 for 9 series).
Having won the Time Out Comedy Award in 2002, Andy Parsons has performed his stand up all over the world; from the Montreal and Kilkenny comedy fests, to touring Australia and New Zealand. To date he has done three sell out UK tours and in 2009 he released his debut DVD Britain’s Got Idiots, which was followed up by Gruntled in 2011.
