Adrian Charles Edmondson (Ade Edmondson) is an English comedian, actor, writer, musician, television presenter, director and guest speaker. He came to prominence in the early 1980s, and was part of the alternative comedy boom.
From anarchic turns in ‘The Young Ones’ and ‘Bottom’, Ade has become one of the most popular comics in the country. He has moved in to drama with the likes of ‘Jonathan Creek’ and ‘War and Peace’, and also travels the country in shows such as ‘Ade in Britain’.
Ade Edmondson is one of the best known comics and more recently dramatic performers in the UK. His career has stretched from ‘The Young Ones’ to ‘War and Peace’, from stage comedy and children’s books to visiting the people and places that make the UK what it is.
Starting out on the alternative comedy scene of the 80s. Ade’s partnership with Rik Mayall saw the pair become one of the must see acts for many years. Among such names as French & Saunders, Alexi Sayle, Nigel Planer and Robbie Coltrane.
On TV, Ade Edmondson appeared in the seminal ‘Comic Strip’ films. As comically violent punk Vyvyan, he and his co stars in ‘The Young Ones’ revolutionised sitcoms. Reinventing every aspect of comedy performance, writing and production. It also brought his pairing with Rik to TV, which continued on to ‘Filthy Rich’ and ‘Cat Flap’, a cameo appearance in ‘Blackadder Goes Forth’ and the hugely popular and frequently manic ‘Bottom’. The pair also made the ‘Bottom’ like film ‘Guest House Paradiso’.
Ade appeared in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ with his wife Jennifer Saunders – but also moved to more serious roles in the likes of ‘Holby City’, ‘Jonathan Creek’ and the BBC’s blockbuster adaptation of ‘War and Peace’. His diversity extends to his stage work, appearing in the West End in ‘Waiting for Godot’ as well as ‘The Rocky Horror Show’.

Away from acting, Ade was a popular ‘Celebrity Masterchef’ winner. His love of the countryside saw him host ‘The Dales’, a journey around his homeland of Yorkshire.
