Phil Thompson is a retired English football player who was born in 1954. He is best known for playing as a defender for Liverpool although he also had a two year spell at Sheffield United. Furthermore he also represented England a total of forty two times. After retirement he moved into management and eventually became the assistant manager at Liverpool.
